It seems I start every update with an apology for the length of time since the last update, and that's what I'm doing again. I realize their are fans out there who check my site on a regular basis only to find nothing new. I also realize one of the things that makes my site unique is, or was, the fact that there were new things added on a regular basis, whether it was pictures, schedules, news, or an update on what I have been doing. It's to those great people who come back to my site often, hoping to find something new, that I apologize. I usually try to give a reason for the delay in the updates, and this time the reason is simple. My book. My autobiography, "It's Good To Be The King...Sometimes" that came out just before Christmas has taken nearly every spare minute of my time since it's release. I never imagined there would be so much time, travel, and work devoted to promoting a book. But I shouldn't complain. It's been a lot of fun and a very unique experience. I've had the privilege of meeting thousands of nice people who purchased my book and wanted me to sign it. I've done numerous television and radio appearances to talk about the book and I've even traveled to cities for book signings that I have never visited in all the years that I have been in the wrestling business.
The book signings themselves were all enjoyable. Some had huge turnouts, others were more like "intimate gatherings." But they all had their moments. The signings started in my hometown of Memphis with one at a Wal-Mart and the other at a Waldenbooks in Wolfchase Mall. Both of these had very large crowd with a lot of old friends turning up to say "Hi" and congratulate me on the book. My high school art teacher, Helen Stahl, who I wrote a lot about in the book, even came to the mall to have her book signed. That was a real thrill for me to see her again and just to know that she was proud of her former student meant a great deal to me. From Memphis I went to a signing at a Borders book store in Mesa, Arizona, then to one at a Super K-Mart in Phoenix, Arizona, and then the very next day flew all the way to Portland, Oregon for another. Portland was one of the cities that I had always heard had a rich wrestling heritage and had produced a number of top notch professional wrestlers, but I had never actually been to. I was amazed at the turnout and reception I got from hundreds of fans there that had never seen me in person before.
While I was in Portland I also did a number of radio and television promotions for Wrestlemania which is going to be right up the road in Seattle. I could tell by the fans and the tickets they had already purchased that there is going to be a sizable turnout of fans from Portland making the trip up to Seattle for Wrestlemania. After Portland, I did a signing in Lodi, NJ at the Sportscorner, then the next one was at a Booksamillion store in Ft Myers, Florida. While I was in Ft Myers, I got a chance to go by and actually see and talk to Stacy for a few minutes....(more on that later)....Then I had a book signing at another Super K-Mart right outside of Chicago on Superbowl Sunday that really drew a huge crowd. After that, I did a signing at "Bookends" bookstore in Ridgewood NJ. The owners there were really nice people and very professional. That was one of the best organized and well run signings that I have done to date. The most recent signing I have done was at the "Current Affairs" bookstore in San Diego, California, and I have two more coming up in the next couple of weeks, one close to home, in Millington, TN, on March 21, and another in Nashville, TN. that I am not sure of the date of yet.
Now sandwiched in between all these book signings were Monday Night Raw shows in Phoenix, Uncus, CT, Providence, RI, Chicago, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Columbus, Ohio, and Toronto Canada. Also, thrown in for good measure, were "World of Wheels" custom auto show appearances I did in Boston, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Chicago, Indianapolis, and Dallas, Texas. During this same stretch of time, I also did radio interviews on stations in Portland, Pittsburgh, St Lousi, Poplar Bluff, College Station, Texas, Tampa, Dallas, and of course, a live, in studio, radio interview with Mancow Mueller on station WKQX in Chicago. Oh, and I can't forget that I also wrestled on independent shows in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Woodbridge, CT, Portsmouth, Ohio, and Memphis, Tennessee. And speaking of wrestling, I've had the opportunity to wrestle a few times lately on RAW, and that was a lot of fun, believe me. Well, maybe I should rephrase that...I don't know if "fun" is the proper word to describe what being hit with Sean Morley's "Money Shot" feels like. When a guy as big as him jumps off the top rope and lands directly on your chest you can't help but feel it. Don't get me wrong, I loved every minute of that match. I wish I had the chance to wrestle more often on RAW, or any of the WWE shows for that matter, but I realize they have a lot of young talent that don't get to wrestle as often as they should and when I'm wrestling, one of them is not. But I always enjoy the opportunity to contribute if I'm needed....or maybe I should say, "if I'm wanted."
I
mentioned earlier that I got to see Stacy for a few minutes while I was in
Florida. She was doing fine. It's so sad that after being in love with someone
for twelve years, and everything being wonderful, things can go to a point where
just being around that person can be a tense and uncomfortable situation. That's
the way it was when I saw her. She looked like the same Stacy I had known and
loved and married...still as beautiful as ever, but I could tell she was uneasy
with me being there, and that she would have rather been somewhere else. Our
meeting didn't last long, and didn't accomplish anything. The divorce drags
on. She has just hired a new lawyer and it's like the whole thing has to go
back to square one. I have finally instructed my lawyer to try to move things
along a fast as possible. Up to now, I admit I was really in no hurry to get
the divorce. I guess I was hoping against hope that something would change and
that maybe she would reconsider. But I know now that's not going to happen, and
actually I know now I don't want that to happen. I want the divorce to be
finalized so that we can both move on with our lives. I want to be in love
again. I know that sounds mushy to a lot of people, but I love being "in
love." I love having a girl that I can care about, that I can pamper and spoil,
and travel with and spend time with. That's just me. And I now have come to
the realization that that girl is not going to be Stacy, so I have to get that
behind me and find the girl it's going to be. Well, enough about that....my
plane is about to land in Chicago, so I guess I will cut this short. We have
RAW coming up this week in Long Island, and I can't wait to see the
confrontation between the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. At the No Way Out
pay per view, when Austin came out, the reaction of the crowd was unbelievable!
I think things are really about to "heat up" again in the WWE with Austin, Hulk,
and Rock all back on the scene. I will talk to you all about that shortly. Till
then, stay tuned!
